What is a livestream?

A livestream is live video being broadcast in real-time! It allows their audience to interact with them as they are livestreaming!

What is Twitch?

Twitch is the largest livestreaming platform on the internet. It allows people from all over the world to showcase their talents and interests with an audience. We're big fans of Twitch since it allows performers to be easily discovered, it streams in stereo audio and it has direct methods for rewarding streamers.

Is Twitch used to stream only video games?

Absolutely not!

When you go to the Twitch website, you may notice many of the promoted livestreams are people playing video games. However, there are many other streamers showing their artistic talent, and it is our mission to find the best musical streaming experiences so you don’t have to do the work to search!

Do I need an account to view the livestream?

Making an account is unnecessary. However, there are perks to creating an account that you can only access by logging in. Plus, it's completely free to do it and you don't have to enter your credit card information or detailed personal information.

What are the perks of creating an account?

First, every stream has a live chat where viewers can talk to each other, or even chat to the musicians themselves. You can request songs, have fun banter and interact with the artists in ways you couldn’t do at any other show - it’s a unique experience just on Twitch. At some channels you can even play games with each other or do ka

Another benefit is the ability to donate directly to the artists to support them. Donating consistently has even extra perks that the artists will do for their generous fans!

Last, if you end up loving a particular artist, you can set up email notifications to receive alerts when they go live, which is very useful.

How do you create an account?

First, make sure you’re on the direct website Twitch.tv .

In the upper right corner you should see a purple button that says “Sign Up”. Click on there.

After you click, this window should pop up. The reason it asks you for your birthday is to confirm that you can watch streams with mature content and this information will not be public.

Your username can be anything - it doesn't have to be your real name. It's typically whatever nickname you'd like to be known by. Ours is "Stream Pilots".

Once you put in your info, it will ask you to put in a number code that you receive by email. This is to confirm it's a real account. Check all your inboxes in case it skips your main one!

Once you’ve confirmed and logged in, your upper right corner should look something like this.

If you want to change your display picture, you can set it by clicking on the icon in the furthest right corner!

Can you view Twitch streams on mobile?

Yes! There’s an easy-to-use app that you can download from the App Store or Google Play Store.

How does Twitch chat work?

On the side of the page of the direct stream, you can see a chat box in the lower right corner where you can write messages and even send fun emojis! It’s a great way to have fun with the artists, as they love chatting with their fans!

Some of the artist channels can get full of emojis and there can be automated responses in the chats as well. We know all of this information can be overwhelming but you can ignore all of it and simply enjoy the music until you're ready to interact with the chat. Hide the Chat by hitting the little right arrow beside Steam Chat (you can find it at the top right like in this picture below) and that will enlarge the video view.

Why should I trust Stream Pilots to show me the best music streams?

Barry, who runs Stream Pilots, has many years as a professional in the music industry. He's been in bands since the 1980s and he's been following technology at every step of the way. He'll always find the best of the best and the hidden gems that go above and beyond!
