The Stream Pilots Philosophy

Updated: Nov 13, 2020

We decided we wanted to create a service that was going to make a positive impact in the world, and this service is dedicated to helping unite audiences with the live online performances they are craving.

Our time on the Earth is too short. We don't want to leave a toxic wake.

We're not here to create wealth. If that comes as some reward for doing what we're doing, that's great. But our team is making choices not to take the easy route if it means partnering with companies or individuals that go against our values.

  1. We believe performers should be fairly compensated for their talents and efforts - it's why we favour Twitch as a platform since it directly allows artists to be compensated rather than having to set up something outside of their platform. We don't think that performers should have large barriers to getting online and making a living at it. With Twitch, performers can stream and create audiences but they never have to pay directly to do that. Twitch pays their expenses from ad revenue and takes a cut from those who donate or subscribe to artists' channels. But there's no upfront cost to get your stream to an audience.

  2. We believe diversity strengthens our world - so we make conscious choices to be inclusive of all cultures, all genders, all types of music. We have our own personal music preferences but we recognize and want to support good music where ever it is and by whomever makes it. Or watches it.

  3. We don't want to charge people to get the core value of this website. We want the core part of our service - to help performers get online and find audiences that love them - to be free. At some point we may make partnerships with companies who want to promote their products but if we do, we'll be clear about what those are. At the time of writing this, our current selection of products on the Streaming DIY page are not sponsored by anyone. They're items we believe in because we tried them and found they were the best.

Finally, if you think we could do better, let us know in the comments here or contact us at connect@streampilots.com . We're eager to learn and will strive to correct the way we act if our actions are not in alignment with our values.

Thank you for being part of our journey!
